Presentation of code of best practices for public administration

The Catalan Ombudsman presented to the President of Parliament Ernest Benach the Code of Best Practices for Public Administration on Wednesday, September 2. This code is a proposal from the Catalan Ombudsman, as an institution to which the Statute of Autonomy confers the defence of rights. Article 78 of the Statute specifically recognizes the right to good administration. Therefore, the Catalan Ombudsman has the mandate to protect and defend it.

Collaboration agreement and "Opening the Doors to Rights" exhibit in Barberà del Vallès

Formalization of the collaboration agreement between the Local Council of Barberà del Vallès and the Catalan Ombudsman is slated for next Wednesday, September 16, at 7 pm in the Teatro Municipal Cooperativa. According to this agreement, the Catalan Ombudsman agrees to provide the Local Council a detailed account of the institution's activities in Barberà. The ceremony will also feature a presentation of the Catalan Ombudsman's travelling exhibit "Opening the Doors to Rights", which will be on display from September 15-30 in the same theatre.

Personalized service in Sant Adrià de Besòs on September 17th

The Catalan Ombudsman's staff will receive visits on Thursday September 17th, from 4 to 7 pm at the Casal de Cultura, calle Mare de Déu del Carme, 22. The trip will take place as part of the collaboration agreement signed between the Catalan Ombudsman and Sant Adrià Local Council. Appointments can be made by calling 900 124 124, or sending an e-mail to sindic@sindic.cat indicating the contact information (name and telephone) of the person making the appointment.

The Catalan Ombudsman requests information on the requisites and cost of the T-12 public transportation pass

The Catalan Ombudsman has opened an ex-officio action and requested information from various administrations on the requisites and cost of the new Barcelona metropolitan transport pass for minors aged 4-12. Specifically, the Ombudsman has inquired as to the viability of studying an alternative system of accrediting the T-12 ticket-holder, given that it is only mandatory to have a National ID card (DNI) for minors over 14. He has also requested an economic report to justify the cost of 35 euros.

Rafael Ribó takes part in the Congress of French-speaking Ombudsmen

Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó will take part next September 7-9 in the sixth running of the Congress of the Ombudsmen Association of French-speaking countries (AOMF) to be held in Quebec (Canada) under the title, "the Ombudsman, from justice and politics: equal access to rights." Ribó will participate as a speaker on one of the congress round tables on the role of Ombudsmen in the implementation and application of international human rights conventions.
