Rafael Ribó defends the figure of the Ombudsman before the president of Italy

Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó was hosted by Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Republic of Italy, last January 25. During their meeting, Ombudsman Ribó expressed his concern regarding the planned elimination of the local Italian Ombudsman offices (defensore civici), to whom no budget allocations will be assigned as of 2011.

The Catalan Ombudsman's office will travel to Castelldefels on February 18

The Catalan Ombudsman's office will travel to Castelldefels next Thursday, February 18 to field complaints and queries on administrations. Local citizens will meet the Catalan Ombudsman's team at the Frederic Mompou Center (Plaça Joan XXIII, 8). The Catalan Ombudsman's office will travel to Manlleu and Torelló on February 25

The Catalan Ombudsman's office will make a double outing to Osona County next February 25. Complaints and queries will be taken in Manlleu and also Torelló. In Manlleu, the Ombudsman's team will receive visits at the Museu Industrial del Ter (passeig del Ter, s/n) and in Torelló, on the premises of Gestiomat-La Cooperativa (carrer Enric Prat de la Riba, 17-19). Individualized service in Castellar del Vallès and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia

The trip to these municipalities will be conducted within the framework of the individualized follow-up agreements that the Catalan Ombudsman has signed with these local councils. In Castellar del Vallès, the Catalan Ombudsman's team will provide personalized service on February 9 and in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, on February 11. Anyone wishing to file a complaint against the administrations or make a query may make an appointment at 900 124 124 or by sending an e-mail to this address: sindic@sindic.cat.

Seventh running of the Autonomous University of Barcelona course on the Catalan Ombudsman

For the seventh time, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Catalan Ombudsman are organizing an 18-hour credit on the Catalan Ombudsman. The course, open to all students of the university, focuses on the theoretical bases of the institution, and discusses case studies from some of the Catalan Ombudsman's areas of activity. An opening address by Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó will kick off the course on March 1.

Agreement for individualized supervision signed with the Local Councils of Matadepera, Esparreguera and Tàrrega

Among other things, individualized supervision consists of an annual report describing the status of complaints handled on the municipalities in question, and statistics on the queries fielded by the Catalan Ombudsman from persons and organizations in Matadepera, Esparreguera and Tàrrega. Furthermore, the Catalan Ombudsman's team will make regular visits to these three municipalities to meet with the persons and organizations wishing to file complaints against the administrations or enter queries.
