Catalan Ombudsman suggests providing SAREB with social housing

The Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, has formulated several recommendations in housing and prevention of eviction. He proposes to urgently promote policy measures aimed to allocate properties intervened by the Asset Management Company from Bank restructuring (SAREB) (the so-known as 'bad bank') for social purposes. He also suggests establishing measures to restructure and dissolute credit entities, targeted to individuals in precarious circumstances to prevent further evictions.

New criteria for administrative notifications, especially traffic ones

Rafael Ribó has contacted the Barcelona's Municipal Institute of Finance, the Catalan Traffic Service and the tax collection agencies of the Catalan deputies to recommend them to take a set of criteria which, if accepted, would prevent citizens from feeling helpless in considering their rights violated by failure to report complaints and administrative penalties.

Ombudsman's appearances on Catalan TV, RAC1 and Picó.cat radio programs

The Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, made on December 4th his monthly appearance on the radio program El món a RAC1, answering live questions from the listeners. On Tuesday 11 will be appearing on the tv program Els Matins of the Catalan Television and on December 21 he will be interviewed on the radio program Picó.cat.

Success of Children's Rights Celebration

The event, which took place on November 17 in Barcelona's Ciutadella Park, was organized by various organizations working for the rights of children on the occasion of the commemoration of the International Children's Day. The Catalan Ombudsman took an active part organizing the celebration and the Deputy for the Defence of Children's and Adolescents' Rights, Maria Jesús Larios, spent the morning taking part in one of the activities, aimed to show the children to defend their rights.

Reception of complaints in Cambrils, Pallejà, Premià de Mar and Reus

All along December, the Catalan Ombudsman Office will visit Cambrils, on the 4; Pallejà, on the 11; Premià de Mar, on the 13, and Reus, on the 18. The aim of the visits is to make the Ombudsman more accessible to citizens to file complaints and make queries regarding public administrations and private firms delivering public services (water, electricity, telephone, etc).
