The Catalan Ombudsman calls on all political parties for a firm commitment to reduce poverty in the next four years

On the occasion of the international day against poverty, the Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, addressed all parties represented in Parliament to expose his concern about the growing of poverty in Catalonia and particularly by the impact on the child population. The letter called for a clear commitment to work together to reduce poverty in Catalonia before the end of the next term.

Collaboration agreement with the Aran Valley head of Government

The Aran Valley head of Government, Carlos Barrera, and the Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó renewed their cooperation agreement to ensure the rights of the people of the Aran Valley and allowing singling out the institution of the Catalan Ombudsman in the Aran Valley. So, the Catalan Ombudsman has taken on the name of Pròom de la Val d'Aran, and will offer a unique viewpoint of supervision of the Conselh Generau (Government of the Aran Valley).

The Catalan Ombudsman proposes to simplify the access of disabled people to the tax exemption of vehicles

The Catalan Ombudsman has suggested an amendment to the Law Regulating Local Tax for the exemption included in the tax of vehicles for persons with disabilities may be applicable from the time of recognition of the disability status, through the resolution issued by the Catalan Institute of Assistance and Social Services (ICASS). Regarding this resolution, the Catalan Ombudsman has also been warning in recent years of the problems arisen because of the delays.

The Catalan Ombudsman organizes the activity of the "complaint" on Children's Rights Celebration

The celebration will take place on November 17 in Barcelona's Ciutadella park in commemoration of Children's Right Convention and this year will be set in the circus world. The Festival is organized by various organizations working for the rights of children, including the Catalan Ombudsman and the Ombudsman of Barcelona, who have jointly prepared the activity of the "complaint", designed for children to learn how to defend their rights.
