Media coverage and difficulties in exercising the right to vote overseas during the 27S election

@Síndic

As part of the campaign of the 27S, the Ombudsman stressed the need for public media to overcome electoral blocks. From a comparative report on public and private broadcasters, the Catalan Ombudsman encouraged the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to request a more impartial approach from private televisions and to apply them the same criteria as public broadcasters. The Catalan Ombudsman also addressed the CEC a request for the extension of the voting period when it is done from abroad and he questioned its good disposition to improve and streamline the system of voting by mail.

According to Rafael Ribó, the flow of refugees will increase and more resources and cultural changes to consolidate the values of reception will be needed. Among the recommendations to the Administration, the Catalan Ombudsman stresses that the International Protection Plan and the Reception Committee be implemented with immediacy and agility. He also reminds that regulation states that children seeking international protection should receive a different treatment. Meanwhile, the Catalan Ombudsman shall ensure with all available resources the respect of the rights of people under international protection.
