The Catalan Ombudsman takes in part in the congress of the French-Speaking Ombudsmen association
The Síndic, Rafael Ribó, attends from December 11 to 13 the fifth Congress of the Association of Ombudsmen and Médiateurs of the French-Speaking countries (AOMF), held in Bamako (Mali).
Under the name of "The Ombudsman, responsible of the balance between group and individual rights", the congress will deal with topics related to children rights, good administration and good practices.
As a member of the Board of Directors of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), Rafael Ribó will report at the Congress about the preparations for the 2009 Ombudsman's world meeting, to be held in Sweden. The Association of Ombudsmen and Médiateurs of the French-Speaking countries was set up in 1998 and is composed of 51 institutions. Its objectives are spreading the Ombudsman institution as well as promoting exchange programmes of information, experiences and educational seminars.The Catalan Ombudsman will also initiate contacts with the Ombudsman of Senegal regarding a future co operation project between both institutions.
