Rafael Ribó takes part in International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) world meeting
Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, is taking part in the IOI (International Ombudsman institute) Board of Directors, held in Hong Kong on November 5, 6 and 7. Ribó attends the meeting as a European Regional Director of this international organization of ombudsman offices, consisted of ombudsmen from over eighty different countries.
The three-day meeting Agenda includes sessions on different internal affairs related to the IOI. Representatives of the sixth large regions forming the Institute (which are Europe, Africa, Asia, Australasia and Pacific, Latin America, Caribbean and North America) will also present reports on the activities carried out by the ombudsman from very area.
Ribó will defend Barcelona's candidacy as permanent seat of the Institute's secretariat, now located at the University of Alberta (Canada). He will also present a report on the criteriafor admitting new members.
IOI's main aims are the promotion of the Ombudsman, both the notion and the institution, around the world, and to strengthen the exchange of information and experiences amongst different Ombudsman offices.
