Rafael Ribó takes part in European meeting on immigration in Cyprus


Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, takes part in the Seminar "Migration and its impact on the work of Ombudsman", held in Cyprus on April 6-7. Ribó attends the seminary as a representative of the autonomous Ombudsman's Offices of Spain.

The seminar is organized by the European Ombudsman and the Cypriot Ombudsman, within the framework of biennial meetings that the European Ombudsman holds with the state Ombudsman's offices of the EU.

Held in the city of Paphos, the Conference will deal with the effects of immigration on the Ombudsman's work. Migration within the European Union is the main issue on the Seminar's first day and Immigration from the third countries and asylum is to be approached on the second day. Subjects such as free movement and equal treatment of European citizens, the European Network of Ombudsman and the admission, integration and regularisation of immigrants will be addressed.

Apart from Ribó, the European Ombudsman, P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, the Spanish Ombudsman, Enrique Múgica, the Chief Parliamentary Ombudsman of Sweden, Mats Melin, and the Comisioner for Administration (Ombudsman) of Cyprus, Eliana Nicolaou are taking part in the Seminar as well.

For the second consecutive time the Catalan Ombudsman has been chosen as representative of the Spanish autonomous Ombudsman's Offices. Rafael Ribó is attending the Seminar with the Aragonese Ombudsman, Fernando García Vicente.
