The Ombudsman, Rafael Ribo, who presented a summary of the most important data regarding the activity carried out in 2013 by his office, states that the Ombudsman’s actions during 2013 reflect the social consequences of the economic crisis and, particularly, the impact of the budget reduction in social policies underpinning the welfare state.
Therefore, more than a 39% of all the complaints processed in 2013 are related to matters of social services, education, children, health and work and pensions. Specifically, that makes for 5,641 of 14,354. These figures refer not only to complaints received by the Ombudsman from January, 1st, 2013 until the end of the year, but also those received in previous years and not yet settled at the beginning of 2013.
