The Catalan Parliament ratifies the appointment of Jaume Saura as general deputyto the Catalan Ombudsman

The Commission of the Catalan Ombudsman has agreed to the appointment of Jaume Saura as general deputy to the Catalan Ombudsmanin replacement of Jordi Sànchez,following the proposal of Rafael Ribó of the beginning of June. Saura will join the Ombudsman’s staff immediately. 

As a general deputy he shall assist the Ombudsman in the exercise of the office, and take on the duties delegated to him, including those relative to the institution's governance.

Professor on International Public Law in the University of Barcelona and chairman of the Catalan Institute for Human Rights, Jaume Saura has written several books with regards to human rights and has taken part in many electoral processes as an observer. He has been linked to the Catalan Ombudsman since 2010 as a member and coordinator of the Task Force of the former Catalan Authority for the Prevention of Torture (currently, Catalan Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture).

The Commission of the Catalan Ombudsman has also ratified the appointment of Olga Casado to fill the vacant position of member of the Task Force of the Catalan Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture.

Olga Casado is general practitioner and member of two commissions for the prevention of gender violence. She is also a member of the association Memòria contra la Tortura (Memory against Torture).
