Ribó defends the figure of Castilla-La Mancha

Catalan
Ombudsman and IOI European Regional Vice-President, Rafael Ribó has
defended the Castilla-La Mancha Ombudsman by sending several
documents to the Autonomous Community President. Ribó highlighted on
those documents the importance of ombudsman institutions in
promoting good governance in public administrations and defending
rights. He also emphasized ombudsman offices are recognised by
United Nations and the Council of Europe.

Conference
on public services delivered by private bodies |

The
Conference, organized by the Catalan Ombudsman, will be held next
19th and 20th of September in the Catalan House of Parliament, in
Barcelona. Speakers from several companies, like Telefonica, Gas
Natural or Endesa will discuss, among other matters, the consumers'
rights in today's framework of provision of public services.

Seminar about OPCAT (Optional Protocol Against Torture) and
ombudsman |

Catalan
Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, will be in chair of the seminar on the
United Nations Optional Protocol Against Torture and its relation
with ombudsman, held in Warsaw on September 13th and 14th. The
seminar is organized by the International Ombudsman Institute
(IOI).

Proceedings
used to establish the age of foreign unaccompanied minors may be
infringing children rights |

Ombudsman considers the age stated in the minors papers should be
taken into account unless they had been invalidated. He also says
whenever there might be signs of minority administrations protection
role must be exercised and highlights new proceedings to determine
the age should be brought before the prosecutor's office when an age
of majority is ordered even though the existence of reasonable
doubts.
