New Head Offices to Open

Next December 10, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights, the grand opening ceremony will be held for the Catalan Ombudsman's new offices at Passeig Lluís Companys 7 in Barcelona. Ernest Benach, President of the Catalan Parliament, will be on hand. As part of the opening ceremonies, other events and meetings will be held with different groups and other Ombudspersons throughout the entire week.

Síndic to Offer Commemorative Exhibition, Open House

Starting December 10, the exhibition, "Opening Doors to Rights" can be visited at the Catalan Ombudsman's new offices. The exhibit is a historical overview of the institution and its work. The showing has three main numerical themes: the institution's 25 years of life, the 30 years of the Statute of Autonomy and the 600 years since the creation by King Martí the Humane of the "Provisor de Greuges", forerunner of the "Síndic de Greuges". The exhibition will be open from Wednesday the 10th to Saturday the 13th, the day on which an open house will be held at the new offices at Passeig Lluís Companys 7.

Rafael Ribó and Enrique Múgica to Offer Joint Presentation at Barcelona Bar Association

Spanish Ombudsman Enrique Múgica and Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó will be the two keynote speakers of the "Millennium Objective" Conference held by the Barcelona Bar Association. The two Ombudsmen will speak on the significance of Human Rights in our time. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Barcelona Bar Association.

Individualized Supervision Agreement to be Signed with Sant Sadurní d'Anoia Municipality

Sant Sadurní d'Anoia will be the third municipality of Catalonia to sign an individualized supervision agreement with the Catalan Ombudsman. The aim of this agreement is to bolster the defence of rights on the local level. The agreement, to be signed on December 4, establishes, among other terms, that the Catalan Ombudsman will write up an annual report on the complaints received from Sant Sadurní, that they will be handled with maximum priority, and that a special mailbox will be installed in the town to receive the complaints. Sant Adrià de Besòs and Castellar del Vallès are the other two municipalities that have already signed such an agreement.

Catalan Ombudsman's Office to Travel to Vendrell on December 17

The Catalan Ombudsman's Office will travel to Vendrell next Wednesday December 17. Anyone wishing to make queries or file complaints regarding administrations should schedule an appointment by calling 900 124 124, or sending an e-mail to sindic@sindic.cat. The Catalan Ombudsman's staff will receive visitors at the Hotel d'Entitats, Camí Reial, 13-17.

Most of the content has been translated, such as the complaint and query forms, or the people's services, as well as all of the fixed information of the website, such as the role the institution plays, its history, and the Catalan Ombudsman Act, among others. This is the fifth language in which the Síndic website is made available. In addition to French, its content is presented in Catalan, Spanish, English and Aranés (language spoken in the Vall d'Aran).
