Catalan Ombudsman moves to new head offices

The Catalan Ombudsman relocated to new offices last October 27. They are near Barcelona's Arc de Triomf, at Passeig Lluís Companys, 7.
The new facility is more spacious and easier to access, paving the way to better service for all those who address the institution.

Several TV and radio stations will broadcast an advertisement on the Catalan Ombudsman's office in the first two weeks of November. The aim of this campaign is to spread awareness on the institution, promote its use and also inform on the relocation of its offices.

Next Wednesday November 26, the Catalan Ombudsman's staff will travel to Mollet del Vallès to meet with anyone wishing to discuss administration-related queries or complaints. The Catalan Ombudsman's team will receive visits throughout the day at the Casal Cultural, located at Rambla Balmes 2. Ribó to take part in International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) world meeting

|
Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó will attend next November 5, 6 and 7 the annual world meeting of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), to be held in Hong Kong (China). Ribó, who will attend the meeting as European regional director of this international organization of Ombudsman offices, will present Barcelona's candidacy as the permanent seat of the Institute's secretariat.

Sixth Seminar of the Regional Ombudsmen of EU States

Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó has taken part in the sixth seminar for "Regional Ombudsman Offices" of the European Union, held in Berlin and organized by the European Ombudsman. Ribó has given a presentation entitled: "Guaranteeing the Ombudsman's independence".

Accepted: suggestion to remove age limit in social care aid program for persons with disability
|
|
The Catalan Autonomous Ministry of Social and Citizen Action accepted the Catalan Ombudsman's suggestion for persons over 65 to be eligible for benefits provided in the social care aid program for persons with disability. Up to now, only persons under 65 with a confirmed disability degree of 33% or more could be beneficiaries of the program.

Youth Advisors Council begins year
|
|
The Youth Advisors Council kicked off its activities last October 23. The 14 new members of the Council attended their first meeting of this school year. Now in its second year, the Council is participated in by 14 youths ages 14 to 15 from five secondary schools from Barcelona, and one from Reus, one from Cervera and one from the Casal d'Infants Youth Centre of Barcelona's Raval District. The Council's goal is to integrate adolescents' viewpoints into the direction taken by the Ombudsman's activities, and get children and youths' viewpoints on their own rights.
