and Olot, upcoming visits of the Catalan Ombudsman's

The
Catalan Ombudsman's Office will travel to Falset next May 7, and to
Olot on May 26. Anyone who would like to make a query or lodge a
complaint regarding administrations can make an appointment by
calling 900 124 124, or sending an e-mail to sindic@sindic.cat In
Falset, the Catalan Ombudsman will receive visits in Teatre de
l'Artesana, and in Olot, at Casal Marià.

Serbian
Ombudsman to make study visit |

A
delegation of the Serbian Ombudsman will visit the Catalan Ombudsman
from May 11-13. The visit will take place within the Catalan
Ombudsman's joint project with the Serbian Mission to the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to keep
giving support to the Ombudsman of this country. The working
sessions will help the Catalan Ombudsman's staff advise their
colleagues to support the Serbian Ombudsman in undertaking certain
initiatives, such as a website aimed at children and young people,
or a communication strategy for penitentiary center inmates.

Agreement
for unique supervision with the Local Council of Sant Pere de
Ribes |

On May 13,
the mayor of Sant Pere de Ribes, Josep Antoni Blanco, and the
Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó, will sign a collaboration agreement
to reinforce the defence of rights on the local level, which will
mean that the Catalan Ombudsman will conduct a dedicated follow-up
of the complaints and queries received from the residents of this
municipality. This supervision will entail the preparation of an
annual report. Sant Adrià de Besòs, Castellar del Vallès, Sant
Sadurní d'Anoia, Cubelles and most recently, Cardedeu have signed
similar agreements with the Catalan Ombudsman.

"Opening Doors to Rights" exhibit, in Falset and

The
travelling exhibition "Opening Doors to Rights", developed by the
Catalan Ombudsman to show the history and work of the institution,
can be visited at Falset's Teatre de l'Artesana (plaça de
l'Artesana, s/n), from April 29 to May 15, and at the offices of the
Terrassa Municipal Ombudsman (Masia Freixa, parc de Sant Jordi, s/n)
from May 19 to 29.

Working
day with local Ombudsmen |

Municipal
social services, noise pollution and the work of local police forces
will be the subjects of debate during the working day for local
Ombudsmen and the Catalan Ombudsman. The session will be an
opportunity to exchange experiences and viewpoints. It is to be held
on May 20 in the Catalan Ombudsman's Barcelona headquarters, on
Passeig Lluís Companys.

Agreement
with the Catalan Parliament's Petitions Committee |

Next May
12, the President of the Catalan Parliament, Ernest Benach, and
Catalan Ombudsman Rafael Ribó will sign a collaboration agreement
regarding citizen petitions having to do with rights and freedoms.
According to this agreement, the Catalan Ombudsman and the Petitions
Committee will keep up fluid communication to avoid redundancies in
their activities. There will also be an exchange of petitions which
correspond to each organization due to the competencies granted to
them by the law.
